‘Tea Party with Deborah Henry’ @ Bens Publika
‘Tea Party with Deborah Henry’
Today Tea Bird Tea celebrates a great partnership with entrepreneur, celebrity and founder of Fugee School, Deborah Henry. A tea party held at B.I.G. in Publika will see the full range of Tea Bird Tea’s organic, loose-leaf teas for tasting and enjoyment.
The event hosts the new designs from students from both Fugee School and Alice Smith School in KL who won a competition to draw the birds for the Tea Bird Tea range. Winners were announced in June 2017 at Alice Smith School to celebrate their achievement and recognise the hard work the students put into the joint community project.
On offer will also be Tea Bird’s brand new Eco Rice Husks mugs, and the lightweight, durable and trendy cotton shoulder bags. There will be goodie bags, and a chance not only to enjoy the teas with Deborah herself but also meet Tea Bird founder Ashleigh Cotterill.
The Tea Bird brand is firmly built on the belief that community support and integration is key. One Ringgit from every pack of tea sold goes directly to Fugee School, a fully functioning non-profit that has educated over 300 refugee children and youth. The collaboration represents a shared purpose, to support the local community while encouraging healthy living. All teas are 100% organic, with no added sugar, no additives nor preservatives, and they are very low or totally caffeine free.
Tea Bird Tea is sold across all major supermarkets in Malaysia, and is expanding rapidly further in to the restaurant and café scene. The concept, flavours and brand are cutting edge, and represent a brand new opportunity for tea drinking in Malaysia.
FURTHER INFORMATION
Fugee School
Fugee School believes that every child, refugee or Malaysian-citizen, has the right to learn in an environment free from discrimination and exclusion. Initially tuition classes for four orphaned siblings in transit in Malaysia, the organisation has evolved into a successful organisation that provides a holistic education to students from Somalia, Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Libya, Pakistan and Palestine-many of whom have had disrupted and/or little access to education in the past.
Deborah explains; “at Fugee School, we ignite the endless passion for learning and growing in every child. The dedicated Fugee team uses a hands-on approach to learning, and through partnerships with local universities and organisations; we work to provide a holistic education to all of our students.”
Fugee currently runs nine main program areas: Kindergarten, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Cambridge O’Levels, Sports, Empowerment and Leadership, The Buddy program, Certe Bridge (preparing youth for tertiary education), Health Clinics and Community Outreach. The Fugee team is also working on an exciting new global initiative that will bring targeted quality education, and connect passionate educators to refugee communities in need.
